NEPAD GEIDI 2 Launches 2018

Enhancing the capacity of young graduates for National Development

The NEPAD Business Group Nigeria (NBGN) announces the commencement of the second and 2018 edition of the NBGN Graduates’ Employability Improvement & Development Initiative (GEIDI). The programme equips unemployed Nigeria graduates with both technical and entrepreneurial skills to address the observed mismatch in graduate training and those skills required in the modern workplace for enhanced employability and self-reliability. The first edition trained 50 participants and was held between September, 2014 and March, 2015. The 6 months program holding in Lagos is being organized in collaboration with the Nigerian Opportunities Industrialization Centre (NOIC), Lagos state Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), Lonadek Nigeria Ltd., Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) as well as other partners, stakeholders and collaborators. LSETF has agreed to make available suitable loan facility to qualified participants at the 2nd edition of GEIDI. Participants will equally be assisted in surmounting other teething problems associated with businesses. Monitoring and evaluation team will be in place for timely correction that will ensure higher success rates of their businesses.

The NEPAD Business Group Nigeria was formed in response to the need to galvanize the private sector to support and actively participate in the implementation of the programmes of NEPAD at both national, regional levels and continental level. The key objectives of NEPAD are the promotion of sustainable growth and development, eradication of poverty, and ending the marginalization of Africa in this era of globalization.

The objectives of NBGN GEIDI are:
-    To fill in the gap of technical, entrepreneurial and other practical skills lacking in Nigeria graduates;
-    Enhancement of the technical and entrepreneurial capacities of unemployed Nigeria graduates for paid and self employment for wealth creation and socio-economic development;
-    To reduce the level of unemployment in the country and its associated negative socio vices;
-    To serve as avenue of reliable human resources for organizations;
-    To sensitize similar organizations on the need to partner with government to reduce unemployment, which is a threat to the nation and her development.

Courses to be offered:            
. Electrical Electronics (Equipment Installation and Maintenance)
. Industrial Refrigeration and air Conditioning (Installation & Maintenance)                   
. Automobile and Automotive Mechanics
. Computer Hardware and Application (Software) Configuration, Installation & Maintenance
. Hospitality (Hotel), Events and Catering Management
. Fashion Designing & Textile Production

Applications are invited from:
. Nigerian unemployed graduates aged not less than 18 yrs.
. Must possess a University degree or HND
. Must have completed the NYSC scheme

The training has been subsidized for participants and each participant will therefore pay a token of N20,000.00 for the entire 6 months duration of the course.
Please note that successful applicants will be responsible for their accommodation, feeding and transportation.
