NEPAD BGN

About NEPAD

The NEPAD Business Group is a coalition of business communities and associations aimed at mainstreaming African businesses in the NEPAD agenda and promoting strong private sector involvement in the execution of the NEPAD action plan. Challenged with driving productive public-private collaborations since inception, the group provides comprehensive political and socioeconomic frameworks for engaging and mobilizing local and foreign businesses towards achieving the objectives of NEPAD in Nigeria.

As a champion of NEPAD programs in Nigeria, NBGN attracts and shares investment and trade opportunities with local business communities and actively partners with private businesses and not-for-profits to institute sustainable development projects across Africa.

We strive for the achievement of NEPAD objectives with these critical collaborations.

  • Intra-African agreements and partnerships.
  • Public-private partnerships (PPP) frameworks.
  • Government engagements with civil societies
  • Africa’s foreign and international affairs.
  • Collaboration with multilateral institutions.

Our Story

NEPAD traces its origin to a call by the then UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, during the Millennium summit for a more robust approach to achieving “the twin goals of freedom from want and freedom from fear.” In response, the African Union (AU) initiated the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) in 2001 to build multi-stakeholders’ collaborations toward addressing Africa’s security challenges, instability, and wide gap in socioeconomic development. NEPAD Business Group [NBG] was launched in 2002 to bridge the gap between public institutions and private businesses. It was led by the Africa Business Roundtable and consisted of reliable continental and international organizations that provide significant entry and engagement points for NEPAD. Over the years, NBG partnerships have provided several business opportunities, empowered youth with valuable skills, delivered practical benefits to members and yielded incredible results for local businesses and communities.
